"Put up your dukes" for fitness

What's this Parkinson's/boxing connection?

I wondered that myself when someone suggested I take up boxing shortly after I was diagnosed. Me? I detest boxing. I'm no peacenik, but a sport where the main objective is hurting another person is just wrong.

Then I was invited to check out a Rock Steady Boxing class. The program has spread throughout the country and is designed specifically for people at any stage of Parkinson's disease.

The curriculum emphasizes key fitness areas -- cardio, stretching, flexibility, agility, and balance -- that are important to those with movement disorders or other progressive diseases.

And there's nothing violent about it.

I attended a class, and considering my misgivings about boxing, it was a very positive experience. Read about it by clicking (not punching!) the box.

Did you get your free "symptoms tracking sheet" yet?

I'm offering my subscribers a printable PDF that I created that will help you communicate with your doctor at your next appointment. It's easy to fill out before you go.

Hit "reply" to this email if you'd like me to send it to you.

And click the button for info on why it's important to track symptoms.

Move well,
Colleen
